WELCOME TO ALASKA CITY FOLK ARTS CAMP
Fun for Folks 8-17 Years Old!

Each June, Alaska City Folk Arts holds a five day music and arts camp in the heart of Anchorage. Campers learn folk tunes and traditions, and engage in arts that spark creativity and forge friendships.

Students select four classes - ranging from Fiddling, to Juggling, to Songwriting, to Swing Dancing!

Activities begin before camp with sing alongs and contra dances. After camp, open mic concerts and jam sessions encourage campers to sing and play together. Evening events are open to the whole family! Join us for the Wednesday night Faculty Concert, and the Camp Dance on Thursday night. You also won't want to miss the End-of-Camp Concert on Friday afternoon, where campers will amaze you with what they have learned throughout the week!

2018 VISITING
GUEST ARTIST
Audrey Knuth

Audrey Knuth left Honolulu, Hawaii to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has explored the thriving New England folk scene, worked as an audio engineer, and played the fiddle in numerous bands - traveling across the U.S. and around the world performing her lively and spontaneous music.

2018 FEATURED LOCAL ARTIST
Brian DeMarcus

Brian DeMarcus spent 12 years with the Green Grass Cloggers, a group from North Carolina that took old time music and Southern Appalachian clogging out of the mountains and into venues from Europe to South America to Carnegie Hall. Brian has called dances worldwide, taught at music and dance camps around the country, and has played in many bands. He especially loves old time, Cajun, and Zydeco music, and plays/teaches banjo, bass, guitar, and ukulele. This is Brian's 25th year at Alaska City Folk Arts Camp. We know how lucky we are to have Brian living right here in Anchorage, and truly appreciate his many talents and sense of humor!
